PhD Funding
AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL EXPLORATION OF THE OPEN-SOURCING OF URBAN WORLDS
Spain’s Ministry of Economy just opened its annual call for PhD funding.
Our research project, “Ecologies in beta: an anthropological exploration of the open-sourcing of urban worlds” has been awarded one PhD fellowship. The project will be launching later this year and will run until 2018.
We are now looking for candidates interested in doing their doctoral research with us. In order to apply candidates must be enrolled for doctoral work at a Spanish university in either a social sciences (anthropology, STS, sociology) or architectural/urbanism programme. (Please bear in mind that to enrol in a PhD programme in Spain you need to have your undergraduate degree sanctioned as “equivalent” to Spanish degrees by local authorities – this takes time.)
The annual salary for a PhD fellow is set at c. €16,500. Further information on the call’s terms can be found here.
If you have read our research proposal (here) and found it of interest, we invite you to send us an expression of interest (no more than 500 words) outlining how you see your research interests and background fit with the project. Please enclose a copy of your CV (2 pages max.). Deadline for submission of the expression of interest and CV is June 17.
The PhD fellow will join us at the Department of the History of Science at Spain’s National Research Council in Madrid. Your supervisor will be Alberto Corsín Jiménez.
Please note that your submitting your expression of interest to us is not tantamount to an application. You must apply directly to the Ministry of Economy following the instructions set out in the terms of the call. The deadline for submitting applications to the Ministry is June 29.
We look forward to hearing from you.
